We are happy to announce that the ARCHELON team in Kyparissia Bay project has successfully located and protected over 500 nests already until Mid July! Morning surveys keep getting busier with some lovely surprises like the encounter of a morning turtle.
At the same time, during the night, GSM transmitters send to us from Primorska University (our partner form Slovenia for the LIFE EUROTURTLES project) are deployed on nesting females in order to record their movements and study their internesting behavior.
Field leaders and volunteers are working hard to meet this year’s nesting frenzy in one of the most important beaches for turtles in the Mediterranean in Kyparissia Bay. The implementation of LIFE EUROTURTLES is the reason behind ARCEHLON’s expansion of nest protection to previously less monitored areas of this important beach.
