On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, around 18:00, the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (DFMR), of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment was notified by a citizen for locating a sea turtle on the beach of Kiti in Larnaca, which was in a lethargic state and was not responding. The male, Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas) named “Dias” was very dehydrated and weak. Her clinical picture suggests that the turtle had been inactive for some time. She was given antibiotics overnight and placed in fresh water on Wednesday morning, a common practice used to remove parasites from her body.
