The existing facility of the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Mali Lošinj led by the Blue World Institute has just been upgraded with the purchase of three new tanks for sea turtle recovery. Moreover, technical conditions necessary for accommodation of the animals on recovery have been improved by replacement of the plumbing network, installation of filtration systems and systems for the water quality and stable temperature maintenance. Altogether, this will allow the facility to successfully treat more sea turtles per year. Upgrade of the rescue centre will be finalized in the coming period with the purchase of the specialized veterinary equipment. Thanks to the assistance of LIFE financial instrument of the EU, the implementation of the project „Collective Actions for Improving the Conservation Status of the EU Sea Turtle Populations“ (LIFE EUROTURTLES) will enable the recovery of bigger number of sick and injured sea turtles, as well as the improvement of the conditions for accomodation, recovery and providing necessary care to injured individuals.
